Abstract: In order to solve the problem of low rate of lump coal in mining face in Saimengteer, the paper uses comprehensive research methods such as laboratory test, numerical simulation and theoretical analysis to comprehensively analyze the influence degree of different damage extent on lump coal rate under geological conditions in Saimengteer. The paper uses fragmentation distribution and fractal dimension of fractal theory as the comprehensive performance index of coal, and studies the relationship between fragmentation distribution and fractal dimension after the destruction of forces with different properties. The index qualitatively reflects coal lump coal rate in coal mines to a certain extent, and determines key factors of mechanical properties affecting the lump coal rate. The results show that when coal sample is compression failure, fractal dimension is the largest, fragmentation distribution is wide, volume is small and fragmentation degree is highest. When coal sample is sheared, the fragmentation degree is lower than that in compression failure. As the shear angle decreases, fractal dimension is increasing, fragmentation distribution becomes more and fragmentation degree is higher. When coal sample is in tension, fractal dimension is the smallest, fragmentation distribution is the least, and fragmentation degree is the lowest.
